Lost me with the claim that the Greeks looted the Royal Library at Alexandria. Alexandria did not exist until after Alexander conquered Egypt. Therefore there was no library to loot. That ideas were being exchanged throughout the Mediterranean world does not surprise me. That so much has been lost from various ancient libraries also does not surprise me. Paper burns. Insects chew. Ink runs in water.

A very interesting read, although the references can get lengthy, the message is clear. I admired Greek philosophy since I discovered it College, but they never taught us the origins of their teachings. This book encourages you to relearn what you have learned and dig deeper into Kemet to find the answers that were plagiarized by European culture. Goes to show you, nothing is new under the sun.

As a person interested in true history, I know better than most how hard it is to find works of uncorrupted facts. This is by far one of the most thoroughly researched and scholarly pieces of literature I have ever had the pleasure to read. There is a viable reference for every assertion made, and should you follow them you will see that Mr. James is in fact telling you the truth; that all greek philosophy is plagiarized Egyptian philosophy. When you search for the truth, you must be prepared to go against the tide. The mainstream will tell you things like Columbus traded peaceably with Native Americans, like Jesus is not at all based on the Kemetic god Horus, that the government has your best interest at heart, and that voting counts. The hard work of finding the true origins of greek philosophy has been made easy for you here, read and learn.

A thorough review of the early Greek philosophers writing with a detailed comparison to the Egyptian Mystery School teaching showing that the Greek writing were based on Egyptian material. This occurred after Alexander the Great conquered Egypt and acquired their library. It is suggested that the Greek philosophers were initiates in the Egyptian Mystery schools. The Egyptians were the laid the foundation for philosophy not the Greeks.

Author engages in a master- race fantasy without evidence. Esoteric mysteries arise in any person who follows the divine spark existing within ALL people. Truth has no border or race. Intellectually insulting. The reader is much harmed and degraded by the malignant logic exhibited in this work of what appears to be racial propoganda. Support peace and harmony in the World by AVOIDING this book!

Gives the reader many unknown or hidden facts that sets so-called common knowledge on it's ear. It really makes you want to study African and Greek history. Which culture actually made the history attributed to others? It points out how we have been bamboozled by early historians.

This book really has two different themes going. First, part of this review is based on the audiobook. The book has a lot of information in it, but it is almost just a compilation of information, with some assertions about the information sprinkled in here and there. I've managed to make it through some really dry audiobooks before, just through sheer will. One thing that will make my eyes glaze over, however, is someone reading lots of lists of things. That being said, the combination of the reader and the fact that it sounds like he is reading from wikipedia is just too much. The book is informative and I ended up purchasing the Kindle edition, just because it is a good compilation of material for those interested in this subject. I just couldn't go the audiobook route on this book. The first major theme of the book is that popular Greek philosophers were heavily influenced by Egyptian philosophy (or religion). The author would go so far as to say the philosophy was stolen from the Egyptians. While not an expert, having studied the Egyptian mystery religions pretty heavily, it is very clear that the Greeks were at least very influenced by the Egyptians. I'm not sure I would go so far as to say stolen, but certainly the connection between the two seem to be downplayed. It's somewhat likely that this connection is downplayed because the Western world doesn't want to admit the influence that the mystery religions had on Christianity. It isn't uncommon that a lot of people come into the mystery religions from one or more individual offshoots of it, and notice a comparison between it and Christianity. Further investigation then reveals, long before Christianity was a religion, a whole host of religions that held similar beliefs. Common elements include, a dying and resurrecting god man, who sometimes rises in three days; may or may have not journeyed to Hell to free people trapped there; born of a miraculous birth; performed miracles; may have been persecuted by authorities, etc.A couple of books that document this information fairly well are, "Christianity Before Christ, by John G. Jackson," and the extremely well documented, "The Jesus Mysteries: Was the "Original Jesus" a Pagan God?" by Timothy Freke and Peter Gandy.Often it is hard to explain how these same similar themes popped up over and over again in such different localities and cultures. Stolen Legacy brings it all together very nicely. There were students of the mystery religions that traveled (from Egypt) to different locations to tell their myths (or spread their religions), and to make them easier to understand, the names were changed to fit the settings and cultures where they were being told. As explained, Zoroaster carried those mysteries into Greece, while Orpheus carried them into Thrace. In each of these places, these Egyptian mysteries assumed the names of different Gods in order to be adapted to local conditions. Hence in Asia they took the form of Mithra; in Samothrace, the form of the Mother of the Gods; in Boeotia, the form of Bacchus, in Crete the form of Jupiter, in Athens, the forms of Ceres and Proserpine." (Stolen Legacy p. 74)In isolation, it is hard to explain the similarities between all of these religions. When you understand that people purposely spread their religion to other cultures, changing the names to fit the audience as they went along, it suddenly starts to make a lot more sense. The second major theme of the book is that the ancient Egyptians were black. Unlike how Egyptian philosophy/religion influenced Greek philosophers, which is documented to some degree (though possibly ignored, too), this area is a little harder to confirm. Given that Egypt is physically located in Northern Africa, realistically, the chances that the Egyptians looked like white Americans is pretty slim. In reality, it seems like we are more likely arguing over shades of brown. For interesting information in this area, look up an article from National Geographic entitled, "The Black Pharaohs." It details a series of "Nubian kings who ruled over all of Egypt for three-quarters of a century as that country’s 25th dynasty." But little has been known about these rulers until the last four decades, as they seem to have almost been erased from history (Images of Piye on the elaborate granite slabs, or stelae, memorializing his conquest of Egypt have long since been chiseled away). As the article concludes, "the black pharaohs didn’t appear out of nowhere. They sprang from a robust African civilization that had flourished on the southern banks of the Nile for 2,500 years, going back at least as far as the first Egyptian dynasty."Honestly, this is so far out of any area I have looked into before, it's hard to weigh in on the subject and expect to be taken seriously. That being said, the author of Stolen Legacy makes a lot of good points and as far as skin color is concerned, he makes a good case. Like I said, I feel like any bickering here is over how dark they were, because white Caucasians, they obviously weren't.In the end, I found the compilation of all the material of value, even though I'm unsure of every single aspect of the book being absolutely true.

Thoroughly enjoyable, a critical work and viable reference for those who may question the belief that African people have not made any contributions to society. It shatters the stereotype and falsehood that has allowed some to romanticize with so called Roman Philosophy.Common sense and a little logic should be more than enough to squash the nonsensical belief of African inferiority but historical propaganda ,fear and ignorance have led many astray with false notions of superiority. This book does what we in the conscious community have known for years and have tried to wake up the AA community toyour True Legacy, peace

I passed the test on my first attempt with this book as my main resource! I liked the practice tests. Watch Mr Fords class on YouTube there was a very helpful A+ playlist.

After reading this book and working on the CompTIA practice tests for 901, I can only say this book was incomplete. There are several practice questions that were over information that the book didn't cover at all. Also, when I went to register online for their flashcard and practice test system their website registration process was completely broken. The coupon was nice, but everything else about this book was suboptimal. I would recommend using this as a reference or an additional resource to your primary resource if you plan on getting A+ certified.

I used this book along with a few youtube videos to get my A+ certification in about 3 weeks with zero IT background other than messing around with two desktops and a few laptops and administering a small home LAN.

I first ordered the CompTIA A+ Complete Study Guide, then I eventually ordered this book. This book simplifies the material. I don't think I could pass the test without this book!

excellent resource after reading this i passes my A+ exams first time. Definitely worth the investment for anyone serious about taking the A+ Exams

I did not find out disc inside

Im still going through this book and its great so far, the extra online materials is awesome too!

Got my cert, well worth it.

This is a great contribution for people who want to learn about the Sumerian culture and their literature. It comprises many categories of writing. The translations are not especially pleasant to read, as the translators in this language have to spend their entire energy on presenting what is plausibly accurate. My only sorrow was that I paid $55, but I have become accepting as I realize that this represents so much work by such great scholars.

Greatest respect and gratitude to all the archaeologists and scholars who bring this literature to light. However, I have the impression that the translations and, even more so, the organization of the material reflect deep retrojection bias typical of the Euro-American tradition.Accordingly, I take with a grain of salt certain aspects of the commentary aimed at placing the texts into the framework typical of that biased tradition and draw my own conclusions instead.Fair enough, nothing is perfect.

Most of us can only buy this book second hand because a new one costs lots of money. It's not like Oxford University is struggling financially and I don't know how students can afford books like this on top of all their other expenses. If they want to make the Sumerian works accessable to the public then they should make the price more reasonable. I'm taking off one star just because of the price of it.The reason I brought this book is because I don't like reading lots of things on the computer screen and the introduction at the beginning of this book and the introductions before each translation makes it easier to understand them. The website [...] has all the translations listed in this book and more, but the book version will give you a better understanding of the translations. The introductions will give you a description of what each tablet is about and the important parts of it. I have read the Nag Hammadi Library by James M. Robinson and that book had introductions before the translations as well and I'm used to fragmentary texts with lots of lines and words missing. The Nag Hammadi Library is a lot more fragmentary than The Literature of Ancient Sumer so this book is easier to read. This book contains a fifth of the translated tablets and they have selected the most interesting ones to include in this book. They left out the mundane things, although they are important to understanding the Sumerian civilization and the fragmentary tablets have been left out as well. These translations are grouped by themes, the deities and other things like the function they served. They aren't grouped according to modern or ancient systems of classification. There's a common misconception that The Epic of Gilgamesh was part of the Sumerian texts, but that was the final Babylonian version written sometime from 1000 to 1300 BC. This book has the first flood myth written down, unfortunately two thirds of it is missing. The Epic of Gilgamesh isn't in this book, but you can read it on the Internet. The flood survivor is called King ZiudsuraThis book is good because it's the first literature written and it's interesting to read the writings of such an old civilization. Everyone's familar with the Bible, but these writings came 2000 years before the birth of Jesus. Imagine you lived in a time period where you had no idea of Christianity, Rome, Greece, the Western world etc. Imagine you lived in a world that was on the borderline of prehistory. This book will give you a glimpse into this murky and forgotten world.

This seems to be the best available recent introduction to Sumerian literature, but it's seriously flawed. Kramer's work doesn't benefit from recent scholarship, but this work suffers from current ideology. Sometimes this is merely annoying, when the editors use "B.C.E." rather than the traditional "B.C.," or waste time discussing an example of modern poetry. Sometimes it's critical, however: Their modernity seems to prevent them from explaining what is (or isn't) known about the rules of Sumerian versification [location 159]. Ideology is also explicitly used as an excuse for dodging the most interesting question in the origins of civilization: Where did the ancestors of the Sumerian-speaking people come from? [location 631]About the Kindle Edition:Like most Kindle editions, this hasn't been checked by a human. Basic functionality is incorrect, e.g., the table of contents links are slightly wrong: The very first leaf node, for instance, for "The literature of ancient Sumer," actually brings you to the previous page, "Introduction." No-one even checked the beginning of the book: The second page contains merely a repetition of the title, which may make sense in a dead-tree edition, but not an electronic one.Sometimes the behavior was even worse. I had repeated trouble and delays in navigation, which eventually crashed the book-reader application and deleted all my notes.Casual sloppiness abounds, though most of my examples were lost in the crash. I found one more example in the table of contents: a footer ("VII CONTENTS") appears in the middle of a page [location 32].The illustrations weren't checked either. The very first, "Map of Sumer," is both smaller than necessary, and unreadable.

All was Great! It arrived in good condition and speedily. I will very much enjoy this work as I prepare to write my novel.

While preparing this review, I had to do just as I did while reading the novel – take breaks to let my emotions subside so I could see to read (or write), for a lot of emotions came to the fore. By the way, I strongly recommend adding the Audible Edition to your library at the reduced price of $9.47.Firstly, due to my own personal circumstances. My father, not long before he passed on eight years ago, had urged me to read and study Nicholas Sparks’s style of writing. Dad was not moved by many authors, so I noted that, but did not then do as he urged. In just the introduction to the novel, I quickly understood why Dad was so moved. Also, though, my first marriage was a story not so very different, in the essential ways, from the true story behind the novel. I, too, spent time in Africa (Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa, and I am convinced I shall one day return to that magical, awe-inspiring land). That employment in southern Africa became the beginning of the end of my first marriage, one of the consequences you pay while trying to deal with day-to-day challenges.Of course, had I not gone to Africa, thence, years later, to Egypt, I might never have suffered the divorce but would not have then discovered my wife of today, who is the Godsend that brought me back from the dead and failed. My point is, “Every Breath” by Nicholas Sparks opened up some old wounds BUT also healed them shut. For me, this story was epic. A life changer.BLUSH FACTOR: This love story is absent any profanities, but the love scenes, while drawing a clear, unmistakable picture, are not graphic in the sense of more risqué novels. Tantalizing? Yes, but not over-the-top graphic. Read first before deciding to read to anybody else, is the best advice I can give. Wonderful images beautifully written is another way to put it.ADVENTURE: There IS a definite sense of adventure.SOUL: Yes.CHARACTER OR VOICE: It is magical how this writer can open the story up to let it speak for itself.EDITING FOR GRAMMAR AND TYPOS: Professional editing of the highest order.THE WRITING FLOW & STYLE: I think it’s clear that this writer is moving in his narrative.POV: Third person, which works well for this story. We get to feel the emotions of the main characters so effectively due to the way point of view is used in this work.EXCERPT‘…time, she’d believed her dad to be the smartest man in the world. When she would tell him that, he’d always laugh and say that if that were true, then he would have figured out a way to earn a million dollars. Her mom was a teacher, too—second grade—and it wasn’t until Hope graduated from college and began paying her own bills that she realized how much of a financial challenge it must have been for them to raise a family, even on their combined income. Her dad had been a coach to the high school’s cross country and track teams as well. He never raised his voice, but nonetheless led his teams to numerous conference championships. Along with her sisters, Hope had participated in both sports all four years of high school, and though none of them were stars, Hope still jogged a few times a week. Her older sisters ran three or four days a week, and for the past ten years, Hope had joined her dad and her sisters at the annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning, all of them working up an appetite before sitting down at the table. Two years earlier, her dad had won his age-group bracket. But now, her dad would never run again. It had started with occasional twitches and a slight, if noticeable, fatigue. For how long, she wasn’t exactly sure, but she guessed that it had been a couple of years. In the twelve months after that, the runs in the woods became jogs, and then finally walks.Old age, his internist suggested, and it made sense. By then, her dad was in his late sixties—he’d retired four years earlier—and he had arthritis in his hips and feet. Despite a life of exercise, he took medication for slightly elevated blood pressure. Then, last January, he’d caught a cold. It was a normal, run-of-the-mill cold, but after a few weeks, her dad had still found it harder to breathe than usual.Hope had gone with him to another appointment with his internist. More tests were done. Blood work was sent to the labs. He was referred to another doctor, then another. A muscle biopsy was taken, and when the results came back, there was the suggestion of a potential neurological problem. It was at that point that Hope began to worry. More tests followed, and later, Hope sat with the rest of her family as the diagnosis of…’Sparks, Nicholas. Every Breath (Kindle Locations 465-481). Grand Central Publishing. Kindle Edition.BOTTOM LINELife-altering story for me. Only one rating makes sense. If I ever could pen a story 10% as engaging as this, I would be quite pleased that I had accomplished a great deal.Five stars out of five.I am striving to produce reviews that help you find books that you want, or avoid books that you wish to avoid. Gone are the days of amazing Nicholas Sparks; The Notebook, The Wedding, Message in a Bottle....where has that author gone? Everytime a new novel comes out, I rush out to buy it, hoping to be blown away.. Nick Sparks disappointed me once again, boring and predictable..

I have always loved Nicholas Sparks' books. I have read them all and they have each made me cry, feel different emotions, and wish the books would never end. This book made my heart hurt and burst! The power of knowing that this love story is true and really out there and the pool of love can come together through anything. At the end knowing Hope's secret devastated me but in the same breath made me feel that Tru is her real love. I am in awe as to how Sparks could write their story with his own words and capture how they had to have been feeling so Well! This is a must read, I have told friends and my sister to read it with a glass of wine and tissues! Loved this book so very much!

Every Breath seriously needs an editor. There is so much “tell” and not enough “show” that the story moves at a glacial pace, compounded by an overreliance on long inner monologues. I grabbed Every Breath on a whim because my sister-in-law raves about The Notebook. I had not read any books by Nicholas Sparks nor seen any movie made from his books, but I like a good romance. Every Breath came up as #1 on Amazon under Clean & Wholesome Romance. I was a bit surprised when I hit a sex scene at 47%. Now, normally this wouldn’t bother me, but here I am about halfway through the book and almost nothing has happened. At all.To be fair, there was a little action. A man drove to the airport and thought of the danger it would be if it were night. He flew to the US. A lady visited her parents’ cottage by the shore. They met on the beach. They met at a restaurant. They talked a bit. They inhabited slow scenes with lots of inner monologues, lots of descriptions, and virtually no action. Finally something happened! These two people who have known each other about two days, I think (sorry, lost track with all the inner ramblings), are now madly in love and jumping into bed. I think he ate some olives in there somewhere. Did they eat their dinner that she was chopping veggies for? I was so bored I can't remember. The woman is trying to assess her six-year relationship with the man she loves because he’s so perfect; she intends to marry him and have the children she’s been yearning for as soon as they get over this rough spot in their relationship. The man she’s just met has no intentions of ever marrying, is sterile and can’t have kids, is a lone wolf who loves his solitary life with the exception of missing his son (begotten before he was sterile, sorry for any confusion there). And suddenly these two acquaintances know that they are deeply in love with each other. They knew upon seeing each other (she’s beautiful; his butt looks nice in tight jeans) how incredible their connection is. They share a few stories and a dinner and are now presumably rocking toward happily ever after. Or at least, the bedroom.Something must happen in the last half of the book, but I don’t really care. I’m so bored and irritated with the overkill on inner monologues, the plodding pace, plus the hackneyed instalove cliché, that my eye rolls gave me a headache. (Confession: it was the frustration with the story that gave me the headache, not the eye rolling.) Every Breath is a DNF for me.ETA: Another reviewer said they read the entire book and in the author note at the end, Nicholas Sparks admits the entire premise of the book is a lie. The book is NOT based on a true story. That's despicable, imo. Before buying the book, I read the intro as part of the sample, I double-checked that that the author had signed and dated the intro, just as authors do for true introductory notes, and I had checked that the Kindred Spirit mailbox is real (it is). I did all that because I wanted to make sure it was based on a true story before I read it. That premise drew me to the book. To find out the whole intro is a dramatic fabrication, a literary device, makes me glad that I didn't finish the book and find that at the end. Nicholas Sparks deliberately played and manipulated us readers with that intro. Not cool.

I thought I would really enjoy this book. It started out strong and I was hooked by the idea that somewhere out there someone was living this story. Then it started to feel more like a predictable romance novel. When I finished I just felt cheated. Mr Sparks begins the story stating it is based on a true life experience. At the end he explains it was just a literary device he had been wanting to use. Really? Part of the allure to the story was thinking this was an actual real living story.I think I'm done with Nicholas Spark books.

Typically like his books but this one was just plain blah. Too predictable, too many paragraphs, pages spent on the physical intimacy of the characters. I almost didn’t finish this but figured I had spent a few hours reading and decided to push through it. I did enjoy descriptions of the scenery though.

About the Author

Kay Thompson (1909–1998) was a singer, dancer, vocal arranger, and coach of many MGM musicals in the 1940s. The Eloise character grew out of the voice of a precocious six-year-old that Miss Thompson put on to amuse her friends. Collaborating with Hilary Knight on what was an immediate bestseller, Kay Thompson became a literary sensation when Eloise was published in 1955. The book has sold more than two million copies to date. Kay Thompson and Hilary Knight created four more Eloise books, Eloise in Paris, Eloise at Christmas, Eloise in Moscow, and Eloise Takes a Bawth.Hilary Knight, son of artist-writers Clayton Knight and Katharine Sturges, was educated at the Art Students League, where he studied with Reginald Marsh. Besides the Eloise books, Hilary Knight has illustrated more than fifty books for children, six of which he wrote himself. He lives and works in New York City, not far from The Plaza Hotel.
